What to know:
The name of this no age statement Scotch whisky translates to “rare cask” and is an apt choice. This single malt is matured solely in carefully selected Oloroso sherry casks and is bottled at cask strength.
What the experts say:
Fragrant nose, beautifully balanced, long finish, and is quite dangerous as I can never seem to put it down! It's not a bottom shelf whisky, but it's not going to break the bank either. This is the best bottle under $70 I've ever had.

What to know:
This 10 year old gem of a single malt from Tobermory Distillery is a fun alternative to the equally peat heavy flavor profiles offered by Islay whisky.
What the experts say:
Most recently, Ledaig 10 was available in my area for only ~$90. This is an absolutely awesome Scotch from the Isle of Mull that is highly peated with a little smoky sensation as well.

Region
Speyside

What to know:
With a vanilla note and dark chocolate finish, this 12 year old single malt Scotch whisky is recommended for those whose preference leans heavily toward sherry cask and away from peat and smoke.
What the experts say:
What is the best single malt Scotch for under $100? I would plump for a GlenAllachie 12. [It] won’t be under $100 for too long!
GlenDronach 15
Region
Highlands
Cost

What to know:
Aged in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks; simply put, this is a single malt whisky for the sherry lover.
What the experts say:
So many amazing offerings under $100 that it is hard to narrow it down to one. I'm going to have to go with the GlenDronach 15 on this one. I know there have been some consistency issues with this, but the bottles I have cracked have been excellent examples of this sherry dominant style. I have enjoyed turning many guests on to this one and have enjoyed quite a few myself.
Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie
Region
Islay
Cost
$
What to know:
In a shift away from the expected, this Islay single malt whisky is unpeated. Distilled from 100% Scottish barley and aged in ex-bourbon casks, this is Bruichladdich’s signature bottling.
What the experts say:
I have to go with Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie. It shows up on a lot of lists of the best single malts for under $100 and there is a reason for it.
BenRiach Curiositas 10 Year
Region
Speyside
Cost
$
What to know:
This 10 year old Scotch whisky, with its heavily peated malted barley and tasting notes defined by smoke, is a departure from its fruit-forward Speyside peers.
What the experts say:
The best for under $100 is BenRiach Curiositas 10 Year.
Ardbeg Uigeadail
Region
Islay
Cost

What to know:
This Islay Scotch brings together bourbon barrels and sherry butts. The result? A wonderful combination of peat smoke and sweetness. For those who think all peated whisky tastes the same, this single malt is evidence to the contrary.
